Street Teams is a dedicated charity based in Walsall, committed to safeguarding children and young people from the dangers of exploitation and grooming. Since our establishment in 1999, we have worked tirelessly to protect and empower vulnerable individuals within our community. Our services include intensive support for victims of exploitation, educational workshops to raise awareness about grooming, and engagement with families to provide essential guidance and care. Project Worker
Salary: £26,000 – £28,000 p.a
Persons Responsible For: None
Location: Street Team Offices, 1, Butts Street, Walsall although most work will take place in the community within Walsall.
Special Conditions: From time to time it maybe necessary for you to work from other locations across the Black Country.
Working Hours: 37 hours to be flexible to suit clients needs
Job Summary:
To provide services relating to the development and implementation of Street Teams Project concerning the exploitation of children and young people. These services include, but are not limited to, the engagement of children and young people deemed to be at risk or who are being sexually or criminally exploited
The role will offer intensive 1:1 support for a caseload of service users deemed low – high risk assessed by the Walsall partnership, plan and run small group work sessions either at school or at our drop-in premises (where appropriate), work with community members and professionals, deliver education and training sessions to students, parents/carers, community groups and professionals.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. To identify, through nationally recognised Child Exploitation Risk Indicators, children and young people in need of intervention work.
2. To creatively engage and work alongside children and young people, abused through, or at risk of, exploitation.
3. To make contact with, befriend, offer therapeutic work and act as an advocate on behalf of children and young people to recognise and reduce risks in their lives.
4. To encourage and facilitate children and young people accessing relevant agencies thereby ensuring a holistic approach to the support required.
5. To liaise with social care, the police, health services, education and other agencies when there are concerns regarding a child or young person at risk.
6. To play a key support role in the strategic placement of children and young people wishing to escape from coercive and exploitative relationships and situations.
7. To deliver prevention and awareness-raising sessions in appropriate settings, including schools, pupil referral units, residential care units and to professional audiences.
8. To organise activities and services, that promote and encourage participation and responsibility among children and young people at risk. This may include residential and day trips.
9. To strengthen and develop links with other local projects to raise the profile of all Street Teams projects and the pathways for referral.
10. To ensure that daily client records are kept and to submit additional specialised reports as and when requested to enable monitoring of the project, this will include recording outcomes.
11. To prepare reports and attend committees and external meetings when required.
12. To participate in the operation of the Organisation’s Supervision Scheme.
13. To attend and actively participate in training as deemed appropriate by management for professional development within the post.
14. The post holder must at all times carry out his / her responsibilities with due regard to the Organisation’s policy, and arrangements for Health and Safety at Work.
15. It is the post holder’s responsibility to carry out duties in line with the organisation’s policy on equality and be sensitive and caring to the needs of the disadvantaged, promoting a positive approach to a harmonious working environment. The post holder should act as an exemplar on these issues and should identify and monitor training for him / her self and any employees for whom he / she is responsible, in line with this policy and the Equality Act 2010.
16. To carry out such other duties as may be appropriate to achieve the objectives of the post to assist the organisation in the fulfilment of its objectives commensurate with the post holder’s salary grade, abilities and aptitudes.
