Development: A Proactive Approach
Street Teams recognises that the landscape of exploitation and risks outside the home is constantly evolving. To stay effective and relevant, we take a proactive approach to develop our organisation, our services, and our partnerships. This ensures we continue to reduce harm, strengthen communities, and support children, young people, and families across Walsall.
We do this through four key strands:
1. PREPARE – Strengthening Systems and Partnerships
We embed effective systems and processes across Street Teams and our wider partnership network. By learning from experience (and people with lived experience) and evidence, we improve our responses and minimise risks, ensuring children, young people, and families receive timely and coordinated support.
2. PREVENT – Raising Awareness and Educating Communities
We increase understanding of exploitation and risks outside the home across schools, agencies, communities, and families. Through age-appropriate education, workshops, and awareness campaigns, we respond to modern influences and emerging risks, helping people to recognise dangers and act early.
3. PROTECT – Listening, Innovating, Supporting
We continuously monitor and understand the changing risk landscape by listening to our communities and the people we work with. This enables us to create innovative and tailored responses that support children, young people, and families, strengthen protective networks, and reduce the likelihood of harm.
4. PURSUE – Disrupting Risk and Perpetrators
Where appropriate, we support the investigation, disruption, and prosecution of perpetrators. This ensures that risks are actively managed and that children and communities are protected from further exploitation and harm.
