What Is Exploitation?
What is Exploitation?
Exploitation is when someone takes advantage of you or tricks you into doing something for their benefit, often by using pressure, lies, friendship, gifts, or threats.
It’s never your fault, and it can happen to anyone, no matter your background, gender, or age.
People who exploit others often make you feel like they care about you, only to manipulate, control, or use you. This can happen online, in your community, or through friendships and relationships.
Types of Exploitation
Criminal Exploitation – being forced or pressured to commit crimes, carry drugs, weapons, or stolen goods.
Sexual Exploitation – being pressured, tricked, or forced into sexual activity or sharing sexual images.
Financial Exploitation – someone using or taking your money, benefits, or belongings without permission.
Online Exploitation – grooming, threats, or manipulation that happen over social media, gaming, or messaging apps.
Other Forms of Exploitation – including being made to work or do things you don’t want to do through fear, threats, or manipulation.
